1. Cherry Ames is great.
2. The Cherry Ames books are better than Nancy Drew.
3. Our cat, Fish, is insane.
I think that that is pretty much everything. So, yeah.

Hello, everyone! So today I am going to talk about some of my favourite books of all time: the Cherry Ames series. I haven't read all of them (they are surprisingly hard to find), but I adore the ones that I have had the chance to read. I firmly hold the opinion for all the world to see that Cherry Ames is worlds better than Nancy Drew. Her books are more interesting, they are written consistently (In case you didn't know, 'Carolyn Keene' isn't a real person. It's just the name they used so that the series was all written by the 'same' person.), and the problems she solves are more realistic (at least, from the ones I read). They've recently reprinted the series, but I'm holding out to find them in some of the older bindings (I like them better). One by one the collection will grow. We follow the adventures of Cherry and the gang, from when they are in training at Spencer Hospital through her various job assignments in her career. The first few books are very patriotic and pro-military-ey, but that is just the times that the beginning books were written in (1943-1945). They are well researched, which is part of what makes the books so interesting. The books were written right up until 1968. Fun Fact: These books are so awesome that they were even mentioned in one of the Judy Moody books (I don't remember the exact title. If you've never heard of Judy Moody, Google it, but make sure you add 'books' to the end, because there was a movie made a few years ago, and quite frankly, it was fairly terrible.)! Excuse me one moment, while I watch Fish become a furry paper-shredder. She's gotten into the paper pile we keep for fire starter. I'm back. Back to Cherry Ames. I'm sorry that I'm not explaining well, but do you ever have books that you've always had and read, until they become part of your childhood, but then you start thinking like obviously everyone else has read their awesomeness too, so you have trouble explaining it because you never really thought about it. Yeah, that's what's going on right now. To sum everything up:
1. Cherry Ames is great. 2. The Cherry Ames books are better than Nancy Drew. 3. Our cat, Fish, is insane. I think that that is pretty much everything. So, yeah. Stay Addicted, -Elizabeth

AuthorsJason and Elizabeth are brother and sister book addicts who somehow manage to get along (most of the time). They reside in Canada with their dog Becky, and one (slightly insane) fly-hunting cat named Fish. Oh. And their parents. They're important too. Archives
