This book is 'based on a true story' and so I'll admit that the prospect of reading it slightly worried and scared me. After all, doesn't it always seem that the book or movie that is based on a true story is horrifying, or extremely sad? And the thought that something even remotely similar had happened to someone is even worse. But I assure you - it is not horrifying, and I quite enjoyed it. Quite.
Based on a true story, this is a gripping story that, despite a project I am having to do on it, I just could not put down. I absolutely loved it. There were a few moments that made me hesitant about how much I like the book (for example, a somewhat graphic description of a birth), but I can easily put those aside because of how much I love the rest of the book. Mattie (just like me) loves words and (unlike me) everyday picks a word from her big dictionary that is interesting, and includes it in the following segment of the book. I just loved this book, and would have finished it even faster had I not been doing a project on it (because no one likes doing projects on books, right?).
Trust me - this is a book that should be added to your to-read list. If anything, it should bump the other books down the list a bit. Seriously, I enjoyed this book a ton!
Stay addicted!
